UN Women Gender Based Violence and Discrimination in Public Spaces Study awarded to IDRA

IDRA has been awarded a contract from UN Women Albania on “Scoping study on gender based violence and discrimination in urban public spaces”.

The purpose of this study is to conduct a full scoping report, which will provide good understanding of the types and scale of violence against women in urban spaces in some target municipalities in Albania. Around 900 interviews will be conducted in neighborhoods of Tirana, Durres and Fier with women and girls who use public spaces and transportation. After having collected the data from the described methods above, IDRA will be able to identify most prevalent topics, issues and themes around which the focus group discussion can be designed in order to obtain a deeper understanding on specific issues.

In close consultation with UN Women, the project will also entail an Advocacy Strategy to influence the implementation of the recommendations stemming from the scoping study. The expected results can be highly beneficial since the project will identify, in accordance with the territorial context the target audience and determine the typology of information and the adequate communication approach.
