IDRA Advance, the unit specialized in consulting services here at IDRA Research & Consulting, in cooperation with MOG company has just started work on setting up an institutional platform for the management and operation of the National Water Resources Cadastre in Albania.

This service is part of the third component of the World Bank Water Resources and Irrigation Project. The main objective of this project is to provide support to the water sector in Albania by creating an institutional and regulatory reform for the management and functioning of the water resources cadastre.

The main objective of this project is to provide consultancy services and support to the water sector in Albania by establishing an institutional and regulatory reform for governance and functioning of the water resources cadaster. The platform will ensure the functioning of 3 main pillars for operating the national for water resources cadaster related to:

  1. a) data generation;
  2. b) data processing, analyses and validation;
  3. c) data interlinkages, publishing and their access.

The Albanian National Water Resources Cadastre is already established with the support of the Water Resources and Irrigation Project but is not yet in use. The main reason for this is the lack of a regulatory and procedural framework for management, as well as the crossing of a number of institutions responsible for the production, processing and use of water in the country.

The consulting service from IDRA Research & Consulting and MOG comes at a time when the National Agency for Water Resource Management has just been established, this service, besides creating rules of procedures and co-ordinating users of this system, will also help with new accountability of the new agency.
