The consortium comprised of IDRA Research & Consulting and the US company Mendez England Associates have begun the implementation of the consulting services of Technical Assistance for Improvement of Irrigation Performance, Monitoring and Evaluation at the Municipal Level, in the framework of Water Resources and Irrigation Project, financed by the World Bank.

At the launching event of this project were present the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr.Bledi Cuci, the mayors of the Water Resource and Irrigation Project beneficiaries and senior representatives from the World Bank.

Mayors of Lushnja, Divjaka, Roskovec and Konispol Municipalities have been engaged with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development through a cooperation agreement in order to coordinate the work for the implementation of this project.

For Minister Cuci, this service comes at the right moment as, according to him, "Now we are entering the stage that we should use these resources as efficiently as possible".

On the other hand, Project Team Leader Thomas Ryan, made a short presentation of the objectives, which briefly consist of:

  • Assistance in the operation and maintenance of irrigation systems;
  • Establishment of a Monitoring and Evaluation System for Irrigation
  • Establishment of an Information Management System for Municipal Assistance

A key element of the implementation strategy of this project is the merging of two main components into a unified system: Management Information System for Irrigation and Drainage (IDMIS).
